Heroes Against Time

Where are the heroes?
Don’t look for them here.

Gone are the heroes,
The glittering gods that once
Stood so tall.

Against time
Even the mighty fall.

Corruption is like
A poisonous snake,
Nobility has fallen
From its’ bite.

Has righteousness been replaced,
For relate ability?

The Golden Age of heroes
As long since past.

Where heroes
Would make people cheer
Instead of now
When they’re just pages
In a book.

The Silver Age
Is gone save from memory.

Pseudo science is no longer
The answer to adventure’s call.

No more humor and wonder
In science that cannot be proven.

The Dark Age came,
Like Rolling Thunder
Roaring about
Like a wounded beast.

The veil of the divine and god,
Has been pierced in this time.

God has been brought
To the field of print.

To emulate
The two behemoths
More creators came to existence.

Champions who fought alone
Were born from them.

And grit and grime have covered,
The shining armor of a hero.

But now we are
Here and now
An age without a name
And without hope.

Heroes no longer
Unstoppable forces
Of justice.

Now their only use
Is to be bought and sold.

A pity what has become
To the champions of old.

The stars have been
Outshined
In an age of greed.

Only few remain to the ideals
Of good,
The steel man
The knight of darkness
The warrior queen.

They have not yet
Given up the fight.

They still wish for the world
That a child can play in dark and light.

So hope and wish that they succeed,
Unbreakable figures of will
Who combat greed.

So you may again dream of a time
When man and hero stand side by side.
